Another common workflow is grouping elements of identical types by room before tagging. To demonstrate this using the example from the previous section, let’s add some room separation lines to divide the 2 original rooms into 4.

Now let’s re-tag the view but instead of clicking Tag Current View, use the Tag Current View By Room button. This command will group elements not only by family types but also the rooms containing them.


The Tag Current View By Space is very similar. The only difference is it will group elements by MEP spaces containing them before tagging. Both Tag Current View By Room and Tag Current View By Space also work with linked rooms or spaces in addition to spaces and rooms in your active Revit model.
